At
this time, we have now ceased offering individual packets of vegetable
seeds with the exception of our famous heirloom tomato seeds. Due to the
current state of the economy, we are finding that the majority of our customers
are asking for sets of seeds that will allow them to grow enough vegetables
to help reduce the cost of groceries. We are now focusing on offering sets
of vegetable seeds to our customers at an affordable price that will allow
them to grow their own food. These sets of seeds are
also very storable and can be used over the course of several growing seasons.
Not only are these sets a great value in price compared to buying individual
packets of seeds, but the produce they will yield for you will give you
an even greater savings off your grocery bill. With this in mind,
at this time, we will no longer be offering individual packets of vegetable
seeds for individual sale with the exception of our heirloom tomatoes.
You can however, still browse through our seed pages to see what kind of
seeds we offer in our sets.

Mary Washington is one of the most popular of all heirloom asparagus varieties and is an excellent choice for the garden. The delicious asparagus shoots (called "spears") are tender, thick, heavy and straight and are of a rich dark green color with a purple tinge. Produces uniform spears and a heavy yield. This variety was originally developed in California and introduced by the United States Department of Agriculture in 1949. In regards to the history of this variety, Oregon State University states that: "Modern American rust resistant varieties trace back to breeding work done by J. B. Morton at Concord, Massachusetts under heavy rust conditions. A male plant, A7-83, from a variety called 'New American', was found to be exceptional in transmitting rust resistance and vigor. When A7-83 was crossed with B32-39, a female selected from the English variety `Reading Giant', the resulting progeny was the best of many hundreds tested. From this progeny came the strain called 'Martha Washington' and the two original parents were known as `Martha' and `Washington'. Later, another female selection from `Reading Giant', called `Mary', was crossed with `Washington' resulting in the development of `Mary Washington' the most important U.S. variety to date. Currently a strain of the `Mary Washington' type, 'California 500', is the leading variety being planted."
Argenteuil Asparagus (Precoce d' Argenteuil Asparagus) Origin: France Item #: ASPARAGUS002 Argenteuil is a French Heirloom Asparagus developed from an 18th century asparagus variety known as Purple Dutch at Argenteuil, France between 1860 and 1862. Argenteuil was one of the earliest varieties to exhibit the large asparagus spears so well known today. Argenteuil is a traditional French asparagus variety used to create the popular "white asparagus" in France through means of blanching the plants. When un-blanched, this asparagus variety produces thick, rose-purple with an excellent flavor and tender tips. Argenteuil Asparagus is earlier than most asparagus varieties and should be sown by seed from mid March to the end of June. Unlike many other asparagus varieties which do not offer a decent harvest until the third year, Argenteuil will give a good yield in the second year. UC 72 Asparagus Origin: United States Item #: ASPARAGUS003 UC 72 Asparagus is a brand new asparagus that we are carrying for the first time this year. The variety itself was developed by the University of California-Davis and is another Mary Washington type of Asparagus. UC 72 Asparagus has a good tolerance to Fusarium Wilt and Rust, but in addition is more heat and drought tolerant than other asparagus varieties. This variety is a good producer of large, uniform green spears and is suitable for modern commercial use. Are you concerned
