Burgess Buttercup Squash is one of the most popular winter squash varieties cultivated in gardens around the world today. This particular strain of Buttercup squash was originally introduced in 1932 by the Burgess Seeds Company and is especially noted for its remarkable storage ability, excellent flavor, firm flesh which makes it one of the top choices among all Winter Squash varieties for vegetable gardeners. Burgess Buttercup Squash produces a heavy yield (up to 20 squash on a 15 foot vine) of flattish, turban shaped 8 inch long winter squash that feature a cup-shaped blossom end. These dark green winter squash each weigh about 3 to 5 pounds and feature a golden flesh. The interior flesh of this winter squash variety is truly exceptional, being dry, stringless and possessing a sweet flavor. Stores well. Matures in 85 to 110 days.

Pink Banana Squash Origin: United States Item #: SQUASH002 The Pink Banana Squash is a popular heirloom winter squash variety that was extremely popular among American Pioneer families in the 19th century. Vine type squash plants produce a large abundance (up to 30 squash per plant) that are 18 - 24 inches in length and of a cylindrical "banana" shape with a pinkish colored skin. Each Banana Squash will reach at least 10 pounds in weight (Pink Banana Squash weighing up to 75 pounds have been recorded). Features an excellent, dry, firm yellow-orange colored sweet flesh. This winter squash variety excells for pies, baking and canning. Matures in 100 to 115 days.

Vegetable Spaghetti Squash Origin: United States Item #: SQUASH003 The Vegetable Spaghetti Squash is an heirloom winter squash variety that features a spaghetti like interior that may double for pasta. This winter squash features a small, watermelon-like shape up to 9 inches in length and weighing from 3 to 5 pounds each. When mature, the shell of each Spaghetti Squash will turn from a buff color to a golden yellow. The more yellow Spaghetti Squash become, the riper they are, while whitish colored squash are under-ripe. For the best results, Spaghetti Squash should be boiled for 20 to 30 minutes (or bake for 50 minutes), whereupon the flesh will seperate in strands that resemble spaghetti. The pasta-like flesh can then be smothered in your favorite sauce just like spaghetti and has a nut-like taste. Produces mature Spaghetti Squash in 90 to 100 days. Note: Spaghetti Squash will not store for as long as other Winter Squash varieties.

Green Hubbard Squash Origin: United States Item #: SQUASH004 Green Hubbard Squash was originally a wild squash variety introduced to the United States from the West Indies in 1798. It was primarily grown in small numbers by professional gardeners in Massachusetts who knew the value of rare squash varieties at the time. In the 1840's, that famous American seedsman, J.H. Gregory secured seeds of this winter squash variety from Elizabeth Hubbard of Marblehead, Massachusetts, which Gregory later introduced to the American seed trade under the name of "Hubbard Squash". This lovely 18th century heirloom winter squash variety has been very popular with gardeners and squash lovers ever since. Green Hubbard Squash produces long, sturdy prolific vines that produce a good crop of 10 to 20 pound, rounded squash that are approximately 12 to 15 inches in length and 9 to 12 inches in diameter with a stunning green-bronze color. Green Hubbard Squash stores very well and features a very fine textured, thick golden yellow flesh that has an outstanding flavor. Matures in 95-105 days.

Blue Hubbard Squash Origin: United States Item #: SQUASH005 Blue Hubbard Squash is a sub-variety of the original Green Hubbard Squash that was originally introduced to the vegetable gardening public in 1909. Blue Hubbard Squash is identical to Green Hubbard in every sense save that it possesses an attractive and very peculiar blue-grey color that is quite unlike many other popular winter squash varieties. Blue Hubbard Squash also tends to produce bigger fruits than Green Hubbard, with some reaching up to 50 pounds. Truly a wonderful squash variety! Matures in 95-105 days.

Chicago Warted Hubbard Squash Origin: United States Item #: SQUASH007 Chicago Warted Squash was originally developed by Budlong Gardens of Chicago and was introduced to the public in 1894 at Vaughan's Vegetable Seed Store in Chicago. This lovely winter squash variety produces an abundance of 12 to 16 pound dark olive green squashes of a classic Hubbard shape with a wrinkled and warted hard shell. Chicago Warted Squash features a very fine grained orange flesh that is blessed with a very fine, sweet flavor that are used for baking or for pies. In addition to being a top notch storage variety that will keep until early Spring, Chicago Warted Hubbard Squash can also be frozen successfully for longer storage. Matures in 115 days.

Golden Hubbard Winter Squash Origin: United States Item #: SQUASH008 The Golden Hubbard Squash is another very fine variety of Hubbard Squash. This variety was introduced in 1898 by DM Ferry of the Ferry-Morse Seed Company. This lovely variety features the classic Hubbard shape, but with a beautiful golden-orange colored shell. Each of these golden beauties weigh between 8 to 12 pounds and possess a very thick, dry golden flesh of a fine grain with a wonderful flavor. Golden Hubbard Squash have a wide array of uses and may be stored whole well through winter, or they may also be canned or frozen. Wonderful baked, stuffed, used in pies or in casseroles. Matures in 105 days.

Sweet Meat Winter Squash Origin: United States Item #: SQUASH009 The Sweet Meat Squash is an old variety of winter squash that was originally introduced by Gill Brothers Seed Company of Portland, here in Oregon. Sweet Meat produces an abundance of 10 to 15 pound slate green colored squash with a deep orange colored, thick flesh. The meat has a very fine dry quality, is finely grained and excells in flavor, with a slight buttery taste. Due to its tender texture, it can make a good substitute for summer squash in the winter months. The vigorous vines tend to require much space and will choke out other plants if not given enough room. Matures in 110 days.

Grey Zucchini Squash Origin: United States Item #: ZUCC008 Grey zucchini is a very early variety of zuccini with greyish-green skin. This wonderful zucchini variety produces lovely mottled zucchini with a green-grey skin that reach 5 to 6 inches in length. Grey zucchini features a semi-bush type plant, so it takes up little space in the garden. Producing loads of kitchen-ready zucchini at only 42 days after transplant, Grey Zucchini is the earliest yielding zucchini you can grow in your garden. Extremely productive!

Baby Round Zucchini (aka. Tonda de Nizza Zucchini, Ronde di Nice Zucchini ) Origin: France Item #: ZUCC005 Baby Round Zucchini, also known in its native France as "Ronde di Nice" (Round of Nice) and in nearby Italy (Italy is only 20 miles from Nice) as "Tonda de Nizza" (Round of Nizza) is an old French heirloom zucchini that produces small, round, light green zucchini. Baby Round Zucchini is not particularly productive in comparison to more traditional, long fruited varieties, but what it lacks in production, it makes up many times over in its excellent quality. The small, round squashes are very tender and are very fine flavored, being ideal when stuffed, steamed, fried or baked. The flowers are also edible. Matures early on vigorous, fast growing plants - only 45 days from transplant!

Early Golden Crookneck Squash (Summer Squash) Origin: United States Item #: ZUCC003 Early Golden Crookneck Squash is not techincally a Zucchini variety, but is a wonderful and traditional heirloom summer squash variety that produces beautiful golden summer squash with curved necks. Excellent for stir-fry or boiling together with Zucchini, as well as wonderful when fried into scrambled eggs or omelets! Has been grown in North America since before Colombus set foot on the continent!

Early White Bush Scallop Squash (aka. White Pattypan Squash, Custard White Squash) Origin: United States Item #: ZUCC004 The Early White Bush Scallop Squash, also known as White Pattypan Squash and ocassionally as Custard White Squash is an old American heirloom summer squash that was known in the 13 Colonies as early as 1722 and had been grown by Native Americans for hundreds of years prior. This lovely old squash variety may have also been known in Europe as far back as 1591 as some European writers depicted a very similiar squash variety under under the names "Symnel Squash" or "Cymling Squash". Even today, with its long history, the variety is still one of the best tasting and highest yielding summer squashes available some 400 years later! Early White Bush Scallop or White Pattypan features smooth, disc-shaped squash with scalloped edges and white-green rinds. The squashes are typically about 5 inches in diameter and weigh up to two and a half pounds. The flesh is very finely fine grained, white in color and features a very rich, tasty flavor. This squash variety is best when picked at a small size and is wonderful when baked or fried. Features a bush-type growth habit which makes it an excellent squash variety for vegetable plots where space is limited, for use in greenhouses or grow bags. Matures very early - only 50 days!

Yellow Bush Scallop Squash (aka. Yellow Pattypan Squash) Origin: United States Item #: ZUCC006 Yellow Bush Scallop Squash, also known as Yellow Pattypan Squash is an old American Summer Squash variety that was introduced prior to 1860. This wonderful and unusual summer squash produces an abundance of golden-yellow Pattypan type squash with an exceptional, distinct flavor. Yellow Bush Scallop is an extremely hardy summer squash with a vigorous bush-type growth that is resistant to squash bugs. As a bush type squash, Yellow Scallop takes up little space. Though Yellow Pattypan matures later than other varieties, it produces over a longer season and possesses a superior flavor to others. The delicious squashes are best harvested at 5 inches across. Matures in 70 days.

Benning's Green Tint Scallop Squash (aka. Farr's Benning Scallop Squash) Origin: United States Item #: ZUCC007 Benning's Green Tint Scallop Squash was developed by Charles N. Farr in 1914. Due to its developer, this variety is sometimes refered to as Farr's Benning Greent Tint Squash. Benning's Green Tint is a most unusual variety of Pattypan squash in that it produces wonderful light green colored saucer shaped squashes with scalloped edges. The squashes are best harvested at 3 to 5 inches across when they are at their best color and taste. An abundance of fine summer squash are produced on a bush type plant that requires little space. Features a finely textured flesh with a superb flavor. 55 days
