At
this time, we have now ceased offering individual packets of vegetable
seeds with the exception of our famous heirloom tomato seeds. Due to the
current state of the economy, we are finding that the majority of our customers
are asking for sets of seeds that will allow them to grow enough vegetables
to help reduce the cost of groceries. We are now focusing on offering sets
of vegetable seeds to our customers at an affordable price that will allow
them to grow their own food. These sets of seeds are
also very storable and can be used over the course of several growing seasons.
Not only are these sets a great value in price compared to buying individual
packets of seeds, but the produce they will yield for you will give you
an even greater savings off your grocery bill. With this in mind,
at this time, we will no longer be offering individual packets of vegetable
seeds for individual sale with the exception of our heirloom tomatoes.
You can however, still browse through our seed pages to see what kind of
seeds we offer in our sets.

The Amber Globe Turnip, also known as the Yellow Aberdeen Turnip due to its origin in Aberdeen, Scotland, is a very rare, heirloom turnip variety that dates back to at least 1840 and was later made famous by W. Atlee Burpee Seeds Co. in the 1880's. Though it was once popular, this golden colored turnip variety has become rare and is now gradually vanishing from the world. Amber Globe Turnips feature a smooth, globe shaped golden-yellow root that can reach up to 6 inches in diamter, but are best harvested at only 3 to 4 inches thick. The turnip roots feature a sweet, fine grained, creamy-yellow colored flesh that is superior to most other turnip varieties. The tops of this turnip are also edible and may be used for greens. Amber Globe is absolutely one of the best turnip varieties for your garden and as a vanishing variety, you can help to preserve this lovely turnip for the future! Matures in 75 days.
Origin: United States Item #: TURNIP002 The Purple Top White Globe Turnip is a popular heirloom turnip variety and is the most popular turnip variety used for its roots. This outstanding, all purpose turnip variety was introduced prior to 1880 and has always set the standard for what turnips should be. The roots of the Purple Top White Globe Turnip will often grow to be the size of a softball or much larger, but are best harvested when they are smaller and more tender. The turnips themselves are very attractive and feature an ivory white color with a brilliant purple colored top, from which this variety earned its name. The young leaves or tops can be used as greens, in stir-frys or for soups are extremely nutritious. They are exceptional when steamed. The very tasty, sweet, mild roots are eaten fresh or cooked and mashed like potatoes with a bit of butter. Can also be pickled. Turnips are ideal for a fall crop and store very well. Frost enhances the flavor, so the harvest may be prolonged into early winter. 40 to 50 days to maturity. Are you concerned
